Mark Your Calendar for June 13 to 18 for Waste and Recycling Workers Week 2022!

Mark your calendars now and join us next week from June 13th through June 18th as we celebrate Waste and Recycling Workers Week!

6 Easy Things You Can Do to Celebrate

If you haven’t made plans to celebrate yet, be sure to check out our Celebration Resources. It doesn’t have to be a grand gesture, even a small thank you note goes a long way. The point is to take the time to show your waste and recycling workers you appreciate the hard work they put in week in and week out all year long.

Make a donation at WasteRecyclingWorkersWeek.org. Your donations help support programs year round, including counseling resources, recognition programs, and advocacy and education initiatives. Plus Waste & Recycling Workers Week is a 501c3 nonprofit organization, so your donation is tax deductible.

Contact your local and state government and request a proclamation. Tell your government representatives you appreciate the waste and recycling workers in your community and want to see them recognized this year. There are lots of examples on our website including proclamations from OrlandoWashington DC and Chicago.

Invite others to celebrate with you! One of the easiest ways you can help celebrate is to tell your family, friends and neighbors about Waste and Recycling Workers week. The more people you invite, the more communities we reach and the more waste and recycling workers we all get to celebrate.

Set a reminder on your phone or calendar for the day before your curbside collection service next week. That way, when you take your trash or recycling to the curb, you’ll have a reminder to leave a thank you note or small gift for your collection crew. It doesn’t matter if you leave a card, gift card, or a refreshing drink and snack. What matters is you take the time to day thanks!

Share your pictures on Facebook and tag @WasteRecyclingWorkersWeek. Sharing your photos helps us spread the word and inspire other to join in the celebration!
